Amble seafood tourism development
In 2013, David Ward-Perkins and Jackie Ellis led a five-consultant team in a development project to transform the worn-down industrialised waterfront of the small coastal town of Amble into a seafood hub for tourism. The project aims to boost employment for local residents and help provide a sustainable future for the Amble fishing fleet. It includes a major redesign of the waterfront and the creation of a ‘Harbour Village’ and distribution hub for local seafood.
Thanks to the work of the TEAM Tourism consultants, the local partnership, led by Northumberland County Council, has obtained an initial £1.8 M of funding for implementation of the project. Other funding bids are outstanding.
